Therapeutic Yoga

Yoga can help to reduce/eliminate the symptoms of many diseases and chronic conditions.
In the context of a one-on-one teacher-student relationship, with the focus on the whole person, not the problem, the teacher/therapist first makes an assessment of the student’s condition, goals and needs , then designs an individually tailored practice for the student to do at home.
The techniques chosen may include carefully selected asana (yoga postures), conscious breathing and pranayama (specific yoga breathing exercises), chanting, visualisation and meditation. Follow-up lessons are scheduled at suitable intervals in order to monitor progress and develop the programme.

An appropriate Yoga practice, carried out regularly, has the potential to bring about profound transformation and healing.

"Yoga in the healing process is primarily used in chronic, or long term conditions. Yoga is a gradual process of recovery, maintenance, and improvement." (TKV Desikachar)
